During the 1930s, as American railroad companies scrambled to advertise their brand new streamlined trains, "a coalition of nearly thirty railroads [out West] pooled their resources against the auto and introduced the 'Travel By Train' campaign. Their cooperative effort produced nearly a dozen posters portraying a range of national destinations" (Zega p. 109). This series depicted people involved in a range of outdoor activities surrounded by the striking, majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains. rare.
