Although construction began in 1793, work on the United States Capitol building continued until 1826. Several architects had their hand in its design over the years, including William Thornton, Charles Bulfinch and Frederick Law Olmsted. As with all the images in this series, Hill populates the scene with people impeccably clad in the style of their time.
