BERN HILL (1911-1977) WILLIAMSBURG / CHESAPEAKE & OHIO RAILWAY. Circa 1950. 37 1/2x27 1/2 inches, 95x70 cm. Condition B / B+: repaired tears, staining, creases and foxing in margins and image. Paper. Bern Hill was a graphic designer and a painter. He is best known for a series of paintings which were turned into posters for the General Motors Electro-Motive Division, all of which depicted trains coursing their way through the American countryside. In this separate series he depicts landmarks and well turned-out tourists up and down the Chesapeake & Ohio Line.
