Bern Hill was a graphic designer and a painter. He is best known for a series of paintings which were turned into posters for the General Motors Electro-Motive Division, all of which depicted trains coursing their way through the American countryside. In this separate series he depicts landmarks and well turned-out tourists up and down the Chesapeake & Ohio Line.
