Bernard Villemot was one of the most recognizable poster designers of his generation, with a style that emulates cartoons and exudes humor and cheerfulness. In the early 1930s, he studied with Paul Colin, and Villemot's work from this time reflects a more curvilinear, Art Deco approach than his later work. In 1949, his early works were exhibited in Paris with those of Raymond Savignac, with whom Villemot is most closely associated. Over the next few decades, he was prolific in his advertising designs for companies like Bally, Perrier, Air France and Orangina. Here, in his last poster, he displays his mastery of the art form. In an impressive vertical format, this lithe lady kicks around the globe, yet her shadow is cast as a man's leg. An alluring and daring poster.
