Additional Details

French edition of Bertius' wonderful miniature atlas of world geography. The double-hemisphere world map appears in duplicate as standard. Bertius was professor of mathematics and librarian at the University of Leyden, and in 1618 became cosmographer and historiographer to Louis XIII of France. His writings were confined to geography and theology. "The former provided his living and brought him to renown, while the latter brought him to grief." Phillips/LeGear 5925.
