This surreal and erotic watercolor is an excellent example of Betye Saar's experimental works on paper. Titaster #6 was made the same year as her ground breaking assemblage The Liberation of Aunt Jemima which she exhibited at the Rainbow Sign Cultural Center in Berkeley. In 1972, Saar also was included in the important group exhibition Los Angeles, 1972, A Panorama of Artists at LACMA.
