In 1967, Betye Saar created Hand Book, in which hand symbols interpreted through her drawings and etchings are combined with the poetry of Beverly Gleaves and David Ossman. Palms and palmistry charts would go on to be a common subject in Saar's work throughtout her career. We believe this is the first time that Hand Book has come to auction.
