first edition in italian of a history of Spain from biblical times to the 11th-century, devoting particular attention to the Kingdom of Valencia. The first part was originally published in Catalan in 1538, and the complete work in Spanish in 1546-51. The final chapters deal with the Moorish conquest; on page 423, a discussion of Spaniards fleeing the invasion notes that some were said to have reached Yucatán, which they settled and named New Spain.
