Handsomely printed and profusely illustrated edition of Pierre-Robert Olivétan's revision of the translation by Jacques Lefèvre d'Étaples. Baudrier IX, 135-37; Van Eys 57; this not in Darlow & Moule. from the library of marcus fugger, bound for him, with his signature on the front pastedown, passing by marriage and descent to the Öttingen-Wallerstein family, with their stamp on the title. A prominent member of the great Augsburg banking family, Fugger (1529-97) formed a vast collection of books in wide-ranging fields. This volume is one of a substantial group in bindings in a simple style commissioned by Fugger from an unidentified Parisian workshop in the 1550s.
