first edition of a schoolmaster's personal record of his precocious son Thomas, who died at the age of 6. "The introduction to the work . . . is valuable as the first and fullest account of Blake's early life and it included a selection of Blake's poems, which it brought to the attention of the general public for the first time" (ODNB).
