first edition. The first two extensive chapters are devoted to Jamaica and Barbados, while the final 68 pages cover the various North American colonies. Includes three important maps, most notably the first state of "A Draught of the Sea Coast and Rivers of Virginia, Maryland, and New England," which Burden describes as "the first English map to illustrate the middle and north-eastern colonies." Lake Champlain dominates the interior as "Lake of the Herekoys" (Iroquois), while "Manhattans I." is quite a bit thicker than we are accustomed to seeing.
