Against a striated orange and yellow background, a man is leaning back and drinking straight from the bottle. In a simple, direct and amusing fashion, Cassandre immediately relates to the viewer the essence of this aperitif; it is the key that will "open your appetite". Cassandre, in his full maturity, creates this poster like a virtuoso, with the key, dark on the outside of the body like the bottle, and inside the body the key is filled with stars-- the embodiment of a dream aperitif! The second of two editions of this popular poster; the first, from 1933, was identical except for the background, which was peach-colored, and for a single line of text at the bottom. ref: A. M.
