With the stencilled arms of the sporting writer Colonel Peter Hawker (1786-1853) on front binder's blank, and the following signed note: "This prayer-book is from the Chapel Royal St. James's--having belonged to my late father--Colonel Peter Ryves Hawker, of the Horse Guards, as silver-stick in waiting to George the 3rd. P. Hawker."
