Additional Details

"Received forty four thousand pound my Wages as a Delegate the present Session. Daniel Boone."
In 1780, Kentucky was divided into 3 counties and Boone was appointed Lieutenant Colonel of Fayette. The following Spring, he was elected as a delegate to the Kentucky legislature, serving in the 1781-82 term. He was re-elected in 1787, serving an additional year. Charles Hamilton once wrote, "Boone's signature is as hard to find as a hostile Shawnee hiding in a copse . . . Virtually everything from his quill that survives concerns financial or land transactions."
