Additional Details

This group was acquired by the owner from descendants of Andrew Boyd, an avid collector of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia in the late 19th century. Many of the photographs reference "Handy" in a later hand. Levin C. Handy was Mathew Brady's nephew and he inherited what was left of Brady's negatives after E. & H. T. Anthony took the majority as payment for a debt. It is possible that this group was acquired by Boyd from the Handy family.
