Album entitled "Conferation Suisse," containing more than 30 ethnographic portraits of pensive Swiss women in native costumes; most of the subjects are wearing unusual hats or lace headwear. The album is organized by province, with a pictorial leaf featuring the flag of each state including, fribourg, geneva, lucerne, saint gall, schaffhouse, bale, neuchatel, zug, and argovie. Albumen prints, 5 3/4x4 inches, with decorative hand drawn surrounds. Oblong 4to, morocco, rubbed and worn, front cover detached; several leaves partially detached; all edges gilt. 1870s
