first edition of a substantially revised version of Browne's 1681 Compleat Treatise of the Muscles, which had plagiarized the text of the 1648 Muskotomia by William Molins and the illustrations to the 1632 Tabulae anatomicae by Giulio Casserio. Pages 99-105 contain thefirst edition of Richard Lower's An Appendix of the Heart, and its Use. Krivatsy 1822; Russell 103; Fulton, Lower 50; Wing B5128. excellent copy, from the library of William Cavendish, first Duke of Devonshire (1640-1707), one of the subscribers to this edition, with his large armorial bookplate on the title verso.
