Volumes 1-2 (Castles, Monasteries, Palaces) folio, 452x276 mm, Volume 3 (Cities and Chief Towns) large 4to, 448x470 mm, all in uniform contemporary tree calf, rebacked in the early 19th-century, with crowned monogram of the Earl of Essex on front covers and at top of spines, covers detached or starting; some light browning in Volume 3, occasional toning and offsetting elsewhere, but overall an attractive set.
