In 1926 Frank Newbould was one of five artists contracted to work exclusively for the LNER (the others were Tom Purvis, Austin Cooper, Frank Mason and Fred Taylor). The contract lasted for three years and it was most likely during this time that Newbould designed this poster showing the Danube river, the "two" cities of Buda and Pest, the famous Chain Bridge and the city's Parliament and Castle, as well as some of the architectural, Hapsburg charm of the Hungarian capital.
