Additional Details

Although the view is not dated it was probably published on occasion of the building's reconstruction after it was nearly burnt down in 1857. The original's Classical Revival style was continued by the architect Thomas Silloway; he included the Doric portico that survived the fire, but lengthened the wings and greatly heightened the dome.
