Additional Details

first edition, literary association copy, inscribed to harold norse. Poet Harold Norse's copy, with his signature, inscribed to him by Bukowski on verso of front wrapper: "For Hal Norse - The Horse Immortal - Charles Bukowski / 11-14-69." Between his inscription and his signature, Bukowski has added a drawing of a large horse. The debut of Henry Chinaski, Bukowski's long running alter-ego. A distinguished copy, marking Bukowski's lifelong, contentious relationship with author, collaborator, and Beat Generation personality Norse. His work would appear together with Bukowski's on numerous occasions, chief among them the 1969 publication Penguin Modern Poets 13 - a high-profile appearance which gave Bukowski broader exposure both in Europe and in the U.S. Limited to no more than 500 copies. Krumhansl 17; Dorbin A8.
