SIGNED TWICE BURR, AARON. Autograph Document Signed, twice, a pay order instructing Theophile Casenove in Philadelphia to pay William Buckley, "who will present you this, one thousand dollars." He adds a postscript, "N.B. My name is not known to Mr. Buckley in this transaction." Beneath this he has penned and signed an IOU for the same amount. 1 page, folded 4to sheet with integral address leaf, addressed by Burr; remnants of prior mounting along left edge recto, staining from seal on the terminal page, folds, evenly toned. Casenove was the American agent for the Holland Company of land speculators who retained Burr after dismissing Alexander Hamilton in 1792.
