"The course of business at this circuit will undoubtedly detain me here a part, probably the greater part, of next Week. It will therefore be wholly out of my power to attend to the cause of Sarah Post at Poughkeepsie, where the circuit will commence on Monday with Yates, leaving Platt to take his leisure (which he does) to finish here. I have therefore spoken to Tallmadge [?], whom I thought the best for this sort of Cause, but he was just going off & I had no time (being in Court) to say anything to him. I recommend very strongly that you go up personally, stopping & losing one day at West Point . . ."<
