Additional Details

5 April 1893: ". . . A series of books called 'Leaves from Nature's Story Book' [by M.A.B. Kelly, (1892)] is being published by the Educational Publishing Co. of Boston, that I think well of--so well that I do not think it worth while for me to attempt anything of a similar kind. . . .
"I doubt if I shall be able to write you . . . , other plans involving the fair, & a month in Roxbury at the old house will prevent me. These are lovely April days--like music to me. . . ."
24 August 1893: ". . . I have not written an outdoor article for a long time, except some short papers for 'Youth's Companion.' If I ever again write anything suitable for The Century, you shall have it. I am just now opening the grape campaign [grape harvest?]. This rain to-day is very much needed. . . . I climbed Slide Mountain [peak in Catskill Mountains, NY] alone & slept on its summit."
[1910]: ". . . No one could tell me when my 'Grand Canyon' article is to appear. Can you? ["The Grand Canyon of the Colorado," Century Magazine, (January 1911).] I hope this fall at least. Don't wait till I am dead to print my things. . . ."
