Ginsberg notes on the inside of the front cover that he "nego[c]iated a poor contract between WSB and Ace Books for this text - fortunately- since they stopped reporting royalties the contract had lapsed by the time Burroughs's prose's worth was realized" and has signed it 2/7/84 at the Dalton's booksigning of Burroughs's The Place of Dead Roads.
