A pensive redhead is nestled amidst a spray of lavender, yellow, red, pink and green flowers; "note that even here, Mucha managed to work in his favorite circular patterns, by simply having the stalks of the tall flowers bend in graceful curves" (Rennert/Weill p. 396). A "projet de teinture" ("a study for fabric") , Rennert/Weill refers to the finalized cloth version (printed on "satin or velveteen and possibly on silk", ibid.) and pictures two images, one of which is clearly the final form of this image.
