Three quarto volumes, woodcut printer's devices to title pages, bound in uniform 18th century full parchment over boards, edges decorated in a mottled red sponge design (discoloration, spotting & waterstains to title of volume one and following leaves; some headlines, signature marks and catchwords cropped with loss; spotting to contents); ex libris Franz Pollack-Parnau, with bookplates; 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. Bandello's collection of tales includes Shakespeare's inspiration for Romeo and Juliet, Cymbeline, Much Ado about Nothing, and Twelfth Night. The first English edition was published in 1567.
