Berg, Rosamond (1931-2018)
Day Lily Dust.

1980.

Mixed media sculpture consisting of a wood-framed box in landscape format with Masonite backing; containing three long shelves that hold rows of small fabric sacks in pale yellow, tan, ecru and ivory tones; nineteen sacks per row, each tied with white thread, the tails of the ties dangling down and collecting along the bottom of the box; under plexiglass; with title along top edge of verso, possibly in the artist's hand, along with Jeremy Stone and Allan Stone gallery label; 13 1/2 x 32 x 3 1/2 in. deep.

"In elegant boxes, deep-toned and mysterious, Rosamond Berg evokes visions of a city, grid-patterned and repetitive, enigmatic and silent. [...] The immaculate darkened boxes are her architecture and soft organic fabric bags her sculpture; the tied threads are her calligraphy." (Quoted from Arts Magazine, Vol. 55, 1981.)
