Small octavo (Renouard says 16mo), five parts in one volume; ex libris Claude Le Bègue (d. 1611) with his coat of arms engraved by Rogerius and the motto, "Spe Labor Levis," bound opposite the title page and his handwritten signature on the title and again dated 1588 at the end of the summary; printer's woodcut device to title and repeated on divisional title pages; general title stained with small hole and ink below imprint, text ruled in red throughout; bound in full contemporary sheepskin for Le Bègue, tooled and ruled in blind, nicely preserved and unsophisticated, aeg., with the same iconography from his arms rendered as gilt tools decorating spines and boards; lacking leaf a1 in the first section, preceding the first book of Matthew and following prefatory material, no text from Matthew is missing; contents with some faint water staining and occasional spotting, 5 1/4 x 3 1/2 in.
