Rare at auction.

Gouda-born physician and anatomist, Bleuland is also remembered for his somewhat grisly collection of anatomical preparations of medical samples. A collector himself, he regularly purchased the work of Frederik Ruysch (1638-1731), an accomplished Dutch physician in the same discipline from an earlier generation. Verheijen illustrated the catalogue of this collection which was purchased by King William I of Holland in 1815. It continues to serve as the anatomical museum for the University of Utrecht.
