Helena Bochoráková-Dittrichová is widely recognized as one of the first, if not the first, women graphic novelists. She began printing and publishing in the early 1900s, concentrating on woodcut narratives ca. 1929 with her career finally culminating in being credited with more than 15 graphic novels.
