France, second half 15th century. Octavo format manuscript on parchment consisting of forty-one leaves, written in a gothic hand, sixteen lines per page, two leaves with three-quarter illuminated borders in gold and colors with flowers and foliage; many illuminated initials highlighted with gold leaf, both large and small; many with decorative penwork extensions sometimes to the height of the page; one border slightly cropped, otherwise nicely preserved, and bound in later full calf boards, scuffed and rebacked with corners repaired; purchased from London manuscript dealer Alan G. Thomas; older armorial bookplate inside front board, 6 1/4 x 4 1/2 in.
