First edition, octavo; title printed in red and black; bound in the original olive and tan wrapper (mostly marginal toning throughout, one marginal notation, small dampstain to upper edge of last 10 or so leaves; wrapper soiled, toning inside of wrapper, spine browned, reinforced and mended, lower wrapper foxed, some stains); with some ephemera related to Borges's visit to Argentina inserted; all housed in a cardstock folding case; 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.

Borges's second collection of short stories, El Aleph, is a worthy sequel to its predecessor, Ficciones, from 1944. It is comprised of thirteen stories, including the famous titular story which was originally published in the magazine Sur in 1945.
