Patsy Southgate (1928-1998) was an influential critic, writer and figure of the New York and Parisian literary scenes throughout the 1950s and '60s. Southgate helped found the writer's colony in eastern Long Island where she was involved in close friendships with figures such as Frank O'Hara and his companion Joe LeSeur, later moving in with the latter after O'Hara's death in 1966.
