Large quarto, written in a neat cursive hand in brown ink on laid paper, contents good, consisting of 480 numbered pages of which 430 are inscribed with satirical verses, bound in full contemporary marbled sheepskin, nicely preserved inside and out, with gilt-tooled spine and label, marbled endleaves, 9 1/2 x 7 in.

Buratti was a poet who wrote satires in the Venetian dialect and is thought to have had some influence on Lord Byron. Henri Beyle knew that Byron was reading Buratti and speculated that the composition of both Beppo and Don Juan took some inspiration from the Venetian's approach to satire.
