During Callahan's lengthy career as a photographer he explored nature, continuously reinterpreting what he saw through his lens. While some of his photographs show phenomenal detail, others are reduced to abstract and linear forms. Characteristic of all his imagery, though, is a developed sense of design allowing his subjects to exude a strong sense of both grace and simplicity.
