This image, as well as a sister piece showing an nearly identical view in the winter time. In this summer image the gardens are in full bloom, international flags are flying from the top of the hotel, and couples are strolling and getting ready to play tennis, all with the impressive Mont Blanc in the background. The building still exists but is no longer a hotel; it is the Chamonix Congress Hall. Voyage p. 109, Alps 24.
