Additional Details

Cardigan (1797-1868) achieved the rank of Inspector-General of Cavalry, but only after having led an infamous career which included prosecution for a duel and allegations that, during the Crimean War, he directed his light brigade to charge, resulting in significant casualties, while he evaded the front unscathed.
