first edition of the third and final volume of Aretino''s dialogues; leaves 69-202 comprise Ragionamento . . . nel quale s''introducono le Carte Parlare, concerning card games, with references to tarot. The first 2 volumes printed by Wolfe appeared in 1584 and contained previously published material. Adams A1582; Gamba 1201; Kaplan, Encyclopedia of Tarot I, 28 and 349; Woodfield, Surreptitious Printing in England, pages 116-17. With the ownership inscription of Pierre Dipy dated 1682 on the title. Originally from Aleppo, Dipy (d. 1709) was professor of Syriac and Arabic at the Collège Royal and interpreter to the King of France.
