Additional Details

Carmelli's career spanned the 1880s-1910s. Though a partial invalid he was a masterful magician. He spent ten years performing at the Théâtre Robert-Houdin, before starting up his own touring show. But Carmelli's fame has been assured through this poster which is amongst the best-known of all magic posters. Created by poster master Jules Cheret, it has been admired since it was created.
