Map focuses on the west coast of America from Panama northward to Alaska. It is a single sheet (the most important) from a four or six sheet map depicting the entire Pacific Ocean. This map is printed on wove paper, suggesting that it was printed later than 1825. There is anecdotal evidence that the map was printed at the behest of the King of Spain to present to the President of Mexico to mark Mexico's independence. It has also been suggested that the map was printed in London by Arrowsmith.
