Title in red and black with arms of Charles I of Spain within 4-part woodcut border on general title, repeated on title to second part; woodcut architectural border on verso of general title; royal arms within another border on 34v in second part. 70; 34, [4] leaves, including errata leaf at end. 2 parts in one volume. 4to, 193x137 mm, mid-19th-century 1/4 sheep with gilt- and blind-stamped spine in cathedral style by B. Miyar, with ticket, spine ends rubbed; contents evenly browned or toned with scattered foxing, early signature in lower margin of general title, small piece torn from blank outer margin of title to second part, clean tear in errata leaf. Fourth edition of Práctica de las Virtudes, a historical poem of over 200 stanzas on the virtues of the Kings of Spain from Alaric II to Charles I, preceded by short moral tracts in verse. The first edition was published in 1518. Palau 47981; overlooked by Alden (for reference to the discovery of the New World on 33r in the second part). No edition in ABPC; RBH records only the copy of this edition offered for sale by Lathrop Harper in 1968.
