Additional Details

Attractive example of the German edition of Catesby's highly sought after map which appeared in his Natural History of South Carolina, and the Bahama Islands, 1731. The present map was re-engraved by Seligmann to be included in his German edition of Catesby's Natural History: Sammlung verschiedener auslaendischer und seltener Vögel, Nuremberg, 1749-1776. The cartography is nearly identical to the English version, showing the colonial southeast in good detail, with coloring to represent British claims in pink, French possessions in green and Spanish regions in yellow. Cumming, The Southeast in Early Maps 210 and 292.
