L.L. Cool J. (James Todd Smith), was among the earliest rappers to achieve commercial success. He released his first single, "I Need a Beat," in 1984. It was an instant hit for the performer and for Def Jam Records. This poster, promoting the Nitro Tour, followed the release of his third studio album, Walking with a Panther. The line-up featured Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick and De La Soul.
