Bronze, 1943. 137 mm; 5½ inches (height, excluding wood base). Edition of 50. Incised with the artist's signature, verso, and numbered 16/50 on the right side of the base.

Provenance: private collection, New York.

Chaim Gross taught at The Educational Alliance and exhibited his sculptures in various galleries. He practiced the direct-carving method with his wooden works. He joined the PWAP, and then the WPA, under which he taught and exhibited art. His sculptures were placed in public institutions, and his works were exhibited in Federal buildings and the 1939 New York World's Fair. He continued to create art and exhibit it, and his artistic career flourished until the end of his life. His works included mediums like stone, bronze, and wood.
