Albumen prints, the images measuring 3⅛x3 inches (7.9x7.6 cm.), the orange mounts 3½x7 inches (8.9x17.8 cm.), each with Bierstadt's blind stamp on print recto, and his credit, studio location, inventory number, and caption on mount recto, and three with his credit on mount verso.

Charles Bierstadt was an American photographer who specialized in stereoscopic views. In 1863 he moved to Niagara Falls, where he specialized in views of the falls for the tourist trade and carried on a successful business. In 1870 he visited California and photographed Yosemite. In 1873, he traveled to Europe where he won the highest award at the 1873 Vienna World's Fair for his stereo views of Niagara Falls.
