The Armstrong Whitworth Argosy entered the Imperial Airways fleet in 1926. "In May 1927, Imperial launched its 'Silver Wing' service, considered the world's first luxury air service . . . passengers enjoyed a meal service and hot drinks plus a bar" (British Airways np.) The flight took 2 hours 30 minutes and was a notable breakthrough in terms of comfort and service. Little is known about Dickson who is credited with having designed several posters for Imperial Airways as well as for KLM. This is one of the few posters from the era which actually show the interior of the aircraft, here with the stylish and sophisticated passengers being served drinks by the steward.
