The Shell advertising posters in the 1920s and 1930s consisted of hundreds of brilliant images and designs. In fact, alongside the London Underground, Shell was one of Britain's strongest patrons of advertising arts. Jack Beddington, the advertising director for Shell, commissioned hundreds of posters from graphic designers and painters from around the world, both known and unknown. Year after year, he orchestrated remarkable campaigns that were spread throughout the country on the side of Shell company trucks.
