An assistant professor of art at Morehouse College, Atlanta, Charles Nelson was a critically acclaimed conceptual artist who explored identity and technology in cerebral, multimedia projects. He was also on the Board of Directors for Art Papers Magazine and the Atlanta Metropolitan Public Art Coalition. Among other projects, he exhibited his Invisible Man watercolors with the Carbonist School at the Eyedrum Gallery, and with Kalup Linzy at Romo Gallery, Agnes Scott at the Dalton Gallery in September 2008 and was developing a film installation based on Alphaville, which was included in the 2009 National Black Arts Festival. Nelson passed away in 2009 after a long battle with stomach cancer before completing Alphaville. This is Nelson's first work to come to auction.
