CHARLES LOUPOT (1892-1962) [PISCES]. 1932. 121/4x91/2 inches. Condition B+: water staining and discoloration in margins and image. Gouache on paper. Framed. In 1932 Loupot designed 12 covers for the magazine Art et Industrie, each illustrating the signs of the Zodiac. Each is comprised of well balanced images in a well balanced, stylized design. For Pisces, two fish are drawn with their symbol, a cup, in a minimalist fashion, surrounded by stars (a motif that appears on each cover). An extremely elegant piece of graphic design.
